What we do

We have extensive in-house knowledge and skills, which are a product of more than twenty years working in the industry, and with experience in both onboard and shoreside management positions, we have a lot to offer.

In addition to our in-house skills we have a close working relationship with other marine professionals in the electro-technical, deck and onboard customer service side that we can partner with. Some of what we offer is shown below, but we are always open to a challenge so it’s worth asking.

Project Management & Support

Many people claim that managing a project is more about the process and less about the technical knowledge. In principle that may be true, but having someone that ‘lives and breathes’ the marine industry can bring huge benefits.

The success of a project relies upon many separate, but interrelated, details coming together at the right time; having an understanding of requirements such as permit to work, Class Rules and realistic supply chain expectations can mean the difference between on time and within budget versus delayed and over budget.

Personnel onboard are often passionate about ‘their’ projects and take pride in the planning, but seldom can they devote the time to the project while keeping their vessel operating; providing a capable resource to work through the planning and execution phases with them is invaluable.

Drawing Preparation

The success of a project often relies on good quality drawings throughout. Whether it be drawings that are going to submitted to Class for approval, or used by the personnel executing the project, accuracy and detail are key.

It might be a case of taking an existing drawing and adding markups to show positioning of new equipment and planned cable/pipe routes, or a new drawing showing important detail, we have the skills to assist.

Having an experienced marine engineer preparing the drawings provides additional acumen, and may help identify potential issues.

Equipment Retrofit Panel Design

As vessels get older and technology advances, it is likely that vessel operators will experience issues with equipment obsolescence. Unfortunately, replacement equipment rarely shares the same dimensions as the original. Achieveing a professional finish is difficult to achieve.

We work with clients to design adaptor plates for exisitng panels that produce a professional result. Being able to bring the mix of design capability, attention to detail and engineering knowledge is the key.

Where possible, discussing a potential design with the end users can produce benefits in functionality, ergonomics and safety in design that may otherwise be missed.

The journey from initial sketches through to CAD production drawings can be pain free if you are 'travelling' with the right companion...

Drawing Review

Project drawings are often prepared by an OEM, who is an expert on their equipment, but they do not always have the knowledge of your operation to include details that ensure the final solution is optimal.

We can review drawings and provide more of an operational focus to identify shortcomings.

With the requirement that take all reasonable steps to reduce risk to personnel, and the environment, it is essential that health and safety in design (HSiD) principles are applied to all projects; by ensuring risks are controlled through good design, as opposed to relying on procedures or PPE, is the gold standard. We have the experience to review a drawing and suggest improvements based on our experience.

Operating Procedures

The industry is seeing a higher turnover of personnel than experienced in earlier times; this often results in having team members who may not be as familiar with vessels as we would like.

Daily tasks that are completed frequently are normally readily picked up, but those procedures that are seldom used, especially emergency procedures, can be a problem. When seconds count, well written and clearly documented procedures make a difference.

We have experience in analysing procedures and producing high quality instructions with good quality diagrams. We also design and, if necessary, supply engraved legend plates for control panels, equipment and procedures.

Business Processes

Every organisation is different and how certain processes, for example a purchasing process, run will vary from place to place. It is common for processes to evolve over a period of time as the needs of different stakeholders change, but this often leads to processes that are not optimised for efficiency.

With experience from a number of different commercial and government organisations we can look at a process, identify the stakeholders and see where value added changes could be made.

Data Entry Projects

Do you have a project that could make a huge difference to how you operate day to day, but just don’t have the time available to implement it fully? Maybe you want to create a library of drawings for a vessel, but populating the library with the drawings would take time that you cannot commit.

Talk to us and see if our data entry capability is what you need. By understanding what the end goal is, and caring about the details, we bring more than just a robotic process.
